Privacy Policy

Homeserve Technologies Inc. (“Homeserve”) recognizes that privacy is a major concern for many internet users. Accordingly, Homeserve has adopted this Privacy Policy to protect the privacy of our users and to inform our users as to what we do (or do not do) with the information we collect. The following outlines the information we collect, how that information is used, and how we protect that information. We are committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of the personal information of our users and clients.

Controlling the collection, use and disclosure of personal information is an ongoing process. We will continue to review our personal information management practices and improve them as necessary to better protect the privacy of individuals.

Homeserve may amend this Privacy Policy at any time. Except as stated below, all amended terms shall automatically be effective upon being posted by Homeserve to its website located at www.homeserve.ca. Accordingly, you should check the website frequently for any changes to this Privacy Policy. This statement was last amended on the date shown at the end of the Policy.

  2. First name
  3. Last name
  4. Address
  5. Postal Code
  6. e-mail address

How We Use This Information

All personally identifying information that Homeserve collects is used directly to assist us in providing you with any services you request.

Should you provide your e-mail address, it will be used to send you administrative messages or other communications regarding the services provided.

When you request to be contacted by our affiliates, we will provide certain of your personally identifying information to the specific affiliate, or provider of a specific good or service, you identified so that you may be contacted. Further, if additional information would assist us or the specific affiliate you have identified in connection with the good or service you are inquiring about, we may ask you to disclose such information, and we will provide such information to the relevant parties. To the extent necessary to facilitate a purchase order you place, we may provide certain information, including, but not limited to, the purchase information, to the affiliate who is supplying the goods or service purchased. We may, however, disclose certain non-identifying aggregated information to third parties about the users of our services. How we protect you

A limited number of Homeserve employees, including our Personal Move Coordinator assistants, have access to your personal information, but only in cases where it is necessary to retrieve that information, such as to operate the Homeserve program or assist you with services. All employees who have access to your Personal Information must sign a confidentiality agreement that prohibits them from disclosing user information to people outside of our company, unless disclosing that information is necessary to provide you with the services you request or to protect our service, site, members, or other parties. In addition, all of your personal data stored on our servers is protected against unauthorized access from outside parties using current data security technology.

Accessing and Amending Your Information

As a client, you have the right to access the Personal Information we keep in your file and you have the right to verify or amend the Personal Information if it is shown to be inaccurate. If you would like to view the Personal Information held in your file, please make a written request to the Privacy Officer at the address listed below. We will respond to your request as efficiently as possible.

Use of cookies

Cookies are text files that are stored on your computer's hard drive. These files contain unique identification numbers, which are used to remind our system of your personal preferences, so that we can customize your visits to the Homeserve web site. Cookies are not used to track your personal activities. We only use cookies to track aggregate activity on our site, such as how many people have accessed a particular page in the past month. This helps us improve the Homeserve web site based on how our registered users are using it.

Use of IP addresses

Every Internet user is identified by a unique number known as an Internet Protocol (IP) address. If you have a static IP address, you get the same number each time you connect to the Internet. If you have a dynamic IP address, a number is assigned to your computer from a pool of addresses established by your ISP (Internet Service Provider), which can result in your computer having a different IP address each time you use the Internet. World Wide Web servers use IP addresses to identify your computer. Homeserve collects IP addresses for security, system administration and reporting aggregate information to our advertisers. When you visit a page within the Homeserve web site, our servers log your IP address, but we do not link this IP address to your personally identifying information. This means that while your activity is logged, you remain anonymous to us. We can and will use IP addresses to identify users when we believe it is necessary to enforce compliance with our Terms of Use, or to protect our service, site, registered users, or other parties.

Security

Secure transmission of data is important to Homeserve. We use industry standard SSL (secure socket layer) encryption when users transmit credit card information over our system. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed as 100% secure; but Homeserve uses its best commercially reasonable efforts to use the most current data security technology available to protect your information, and to continue to implement the best security methods as they become available.

Links to other sites

You should be aware that the Homeserve web site may contain links to other sites that are beyond our control. For example, if you click on an advertisement, you may be taken to another site. These other sites may send their own cookies to your computer, collect data, or solicit personal information from you. These other sites are not bound by the terms of this Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of such sites before disclosing any personally identifying information.

Your consent

By using the Homeserve web site, you consent to the collection and use of your information as outlined in this Privacy Policy. If we make changes to this Policy, we will post them on this page so that you are always aware of what information we collect and how we use it. Changes are effective when posted to this page. Your continued use after any change is posted is an acceptance by you of such change. Accordingly, you should check this Privacy Policy frequently.
